October Team Spotlight: Meet Lani Destino

Lani Destino and her mom immigrated from the Philippines to Hawaii when she was 9 years old.  When we was 14 her family moved to San Diego. After she graduated from high school she earned her degree in Political Science from SDSU.

Lani worked in banking and financial services throughout college. She thought that banking and finance was just a job to get her through to law school. But she found out very early on that she did not want to continue to pursue law and wanted to be in accounting, instead. Lani landed a position as a Junior Accounts Payable Processor at a locally owned furniture company where she excelled but started to find the job very boring. She looked for a more exciting opportunity and found herself in consulting. She loved every aspect of consulting because of the different businesses you’re exposed to and the different people you interact with.  The first firm she worked for did not have the culture she was looking for so Lani moved on with another locally owned retail company where she met a colleague who would lead her to Optima.

Lani is the internal Accounting Manager here at Optima Office. She enjoys being a big part of the team while also having the opportunity to assist her clients. At Optima, Lani feels that she has found her work home. She enjoys the flexibility the company provides, making the work/life balance a very manageable one since the company is very employee-centric.

Lani enjoys going to the beach and being outdoors. She likes to spend the weekends with her husband and 4-year-old daughter who are both very high energy individuals, just like Lani!
