1. What do you feel is the most important trend or development in the accounting industry right now?
AI seems to be the hottest topic right now, but I think there is generally still a lot to be done with standard process automation/integration for most organizations.
2. What initially drew you to Optima and the industry?
The opportunity to make a difference for multiple organizations, especially the non-profits I enjoy helping. The flexibility and variety of different responsibilities are a huge plus.
3. What does a perfect day for you look like?
Exploring a new place I haven’t been before, ideally with close family and/or friends.
4. What's your favorite quote?
There are so many good ones, but here is one: “Whether you think you can or you can’t – you are right.” (attributed to many, including Mary Kay Ash and Henry Ford).
5. What advice would you give to someone starting in your field?
Don’t be afraid to try difficult things. The more you tackle challenges, the easier it will seem!
6. What was your dream job as a child?
Kindergarten teacher.
7. If you won $1 million, what would you do with it?
Pay the balance on my mortgage, invest the rest, and use the earnings for travel.
8. What is one skill every person should have?
Resourcefulness.
9. What makes you feel most fulfilled?
Having the sense that I helped someone – whether personally or professionally – really gives me satisfaction at the end of the day.
10. What’s your favorite way to relax after a busy day at work?
Some combination of a long walk (preferably with a sunset), a hot shower, a nice dinner with hubby, a glass of wine, a good book, and planning/researching a travel destination.
