I was commissioned by ROTC from California Baptist University as a 2LT. Shortly after I was stationed in Missouri for roughly 6 months where I became a Combat Engineer for the Army.
After graduating from the schoolhouse, I became a platoon leader for a route/ area clearance company where I managed ~30 people. After that, I became an executive officer for a maneuver augmentation company where I managed logistics, planning, and overall operational success for the company.
Then as a captain, I became the commander of a combat engineer company (armored sapper). Once my role there was finished, I became a commander for an engineer Firefighting detachment.
My role as an officer in the army has allowed me to manage large organizations, operations, complex logistics, hundreds of personnel (full-time and part-time personnel), and act as a mentor/ teacher to other officers. I’ve been able to manage organizations with over 170 people with more than $32m worth of equipment.
All that has allowed me to be a better accountant and manager for my civilian job because I have a wider array of work that I do.

Optima allows me to work with many different business owners in many different areas. I have always wanted to work in consulting, and Optima was a great fit.
I go to the gym in the morning, work on solving problems for my team and clients, and then make a home-cooked meal.

Be a lifelong learner. Always ask how and why someone is doing something.
Growing up, I wanted to be in the military and work in finance. Thankfully, I am able to do both.
I would start a nonprofit to benefit veterans, firefighters, and police officers.
I think everyone should have a basic understanding of finance, specifically understanding a company’s P&L and the time value of money.
I feel most useful when I can help my team solve a problem that they are struggling with, whether at Optima or in the military.
I enjoy cooking, grilling, and playing guitar.
