Business advisers have the potential to be instrumental to a company's success. Unfortunately, it’s not always clear what traits or characteristics to look for when choosing a business advisor, and those without experience to guide them may be unsure of who to work with.
The selection process should be as rigorous as staff selection, with a number of questions asked and interviews completed. This process will set the stage for expectations and allow you the opportunity to learn more about them. First you need to have a goal in mind. What are you trying to achieve with a coach? Do you need someone to hold you accountable, help you create a business plan or help you improve your leadership style? Have clear goals and an outline of how you will measure success with the coach.
