Meet Mike Bergthold; we are proud to introduce him in this month's Team Spotlight as Optima Office's CFO and Partner of the firm.
Along with serving as a Consulting CFO for numerous Optima clients, Mike is also a Chairman and key executive of Pharos Diagnostics. His professional background includes serving as President, CFO, and Chief Restructuring Officer for public and privately held companies, in a myriad of industries. These include financial services, real estate, transportation, IT services, diagnostics, and manufacturing.
Mike first became aware of Optima when a mutual acquaintance introduced Optima CEO, Jennifer Barnes, and himself. The company was in the middle of searching for a CFO and Mike was the ideal candidate. When asked what initially stood out the most to Mike about Optima, he responded, the outsourced accounting firm's unique and leveraged model. Mike took notice of Optima's power to serve across the pyramid of accounting, while providing clients with a full team and fractionalized accounting services. These services are custom tailored to the client's’ specific needs. He admires how many Optima team members possess specialized services and/or skills that can be shared with clients.
Mike also appreciates the evolving Optima culture, and its flexibility with employees. Optima doesn't run on the typically rigid 9am - 5pm work model, but instead prides itself on its elasticity rooted in human connection and understanding. These same values permeate throughout the business and is one of Mike’s favorite aspects of Optima.
He feels that Optima is truly, “redefining accounting services” and is excited to help the company flourish. Mike points out that Optima's clients are in various life cycles of their businesses and he looks forward to using his skills to propel them to success in 2019. Mike is enthusiastic to continue learning more about the team members at Optima and to build as many meaningful connections as possible. Outside of his career Mike and his wife Sheree have two children. Sheree and her sister Rochelle are the owners and operators of TRE boutique in Del Mar, Encinitas and Carmel Valley. As a family, they love going on skiing trips and being on the mountain together, along with other fun adventures.
In his free time, Mike enjoys whale watching from his paddle board and surfing San Diego's beaches.
