What You’ll Do
As a Payroll Administrator Consultant, you’ll manage full-cycle payroll processing for multiple clients while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws. You’ll be matched with clients that fit your experience and style, and you’ll have support from Optima’s internal team every step of the way.
Responsibilities:
• Process weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll
• Onboard new hires, process terminations, and maintain compliance documentation
• Handle vacation/sick accruals, benefit billing, 401k deductions, and HSA contributions
• Maintain payroll platforms including setup, reporting, and compliance features
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and amend tax returns as needed
• Stay current on payroll laws, especially California wage and hour regulations
• Deliver outstanding service to clients and help improve their internal payroll processes
What We’re Looking For
• 5+ years of payroll experience, preferably for teams of 30+ employees
• Experience with platforms such as ADP, Paychex, Paylocity, Rippling, and QuickBooks
• Strong knowledge of CA and federal payroll laws
• Payroll system implementation experience is a plus
• Skilled in benefits integration, ACA reporting, and payroll tax adjustments
• Excellent Excel skills and tech-savviness
• Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Payroll certification a plus (FPC, CPP, or similar)
