What You Will Do

As a Part-Time HR Manager Consultant, you’ll guide HR strategy and operations for small to mid-sized clients while backed by a supportive, experienced internal team.

Responsibilities include:

• Advising on compliance, employee relations, and benefits
• Supporting hiring, onboarding, and performance strategies
• Designing or optimizing payroll systems and 401k plans
• Ensuring adherence to California employment laws (FMLA, CFRA, ADA)
• Partnering with client leadership on culture, retention, and engagement
• Managing multiple client accounts with professionalism and care

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years in HR, with 5+ years in a manager or senior role
• Strong knowledge of California employment law
• Excellent communication, organization, and client service skills
• Experience with payroll and 401k design (a plus)
• Ability to work independently and juggle multiple client needs
• Reliable transportation for onsite client visits
• Bonus points for SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification

Compensation and Perks

$50–$65/hour, based on experience
• Up to 20 hours/week with a hybrid schedule (some onsite work in San Diego County)
