September Team Spotlight: Meet Scott Bullock

Scott Bullock and his family

Can you give us a brief history of your professional career?

I have been a Human Resources Manager for the past 12 years. I made my way into HR via Risk management and training with McLane Company as an operations training specialist. Before my HR career, I was a church pastor for 22 years. So, I’ve been busy helping people my entire career. I’m a graduate of Point Loma College (PLNC). Go Sea Lions!😊

What is your specialty?

I have supported transportation/ warehousing, home services, and telecom construction companies. The companies I have worked with have been fast growing and in need of specialized technicians which has led to my focus on recruiting. Currently, I’m supporting our client, Author Health, primarily as a recruiter. I enjoy helping put people to work.

What do you love about your job?

Human Resources is mainly about problem-solving. Helping navigate sensitive personnel challenges and legal concerns keeps the work interesting and rewarding.

What is your favorite pastime outside of work?

My wife, Paula, and I have been married for 33 years. We have 4 children and 6 grandchildren and try to spend as much time with them as possible. I have been technical rock climbing for over 30 years. I enjoy the physical and mental challenges of the sport. I’ve had a resurgence over the past several years, traveling to Yosemite, Red Rock, Joshua Tree, Tahquitz, Eastern Sierra and of course the crags of San Diego climbing with my friends.
